Consistency has always been an area of opportunity for me.

If you’re someone who’s juggling multiple interests—whether it’s learning piano, practicing Muay Thai, exploring new languages, or reading inspiring books—you probably understand the struggle of staying consistent. For years, I thought I was “doing life wrong” because I didn’t stick to one thing long enough to master it.

But through trial, error, and personal reflection, I discovered that foundation setting—a simple daily system—holds the key to unlocking personal growth and peace. And along the way, I learned to embrace my unique journey instead of following everyone else’s blueprint.

1. Foundation Setting: Keep It Simple

I used to create elaborate systems to include all my interests—only to switch to hyper-focusing on one thing at a time. This constant starting and stopping frustrated me and made me feel like I was never getting it “right.”

Eventually, I took a step back and simplified. I created my “Core 3”:

  1. Meditate
  2. Read
  3. Move Your Body

When I prioritize these three things every day, everything else falls into place. My “movement” might look like strength training, yoga, or a walk, but what matters is showing up. Since implementing this foundation, my consistency has definitely improved.

Building Your Own Core 3

If you’re looking to create a strong foundation for your day, start by asking yourself:

  1. What helps me feel grounded?
These are activities that bring you peace and help you feel centered. It could be meditation, prayer, journaling, or simply sipping your coffee in silence.
  2. What sparks my curiosity or growth?
This could be reading, listening to a podcast, learning a new skill, or practicing gratitude. Choose something that nourishes your mind or spirit.
  3. What energizes my body?
Movement is essential. Whether it’s a full workout, a quick stretch, or dancing to your favorite song, find a way to reconnect with your body.

Here’s the trick: keep it simple. Choose three things that feel authentic to you and can realistically fit into your day. Start small. It’s better to consistently hit a few minutes a day than to set goals you can’t sustain.

Your “Core 3” doesn’t have to look like mine. Maybe it’s journaling, organizing your space, and walking your dog. Or maybe it’s yoga, cooking a healthy meal, and affirmations. Whatever resonates with you is the “right” way.

2. Lessons from Sacred Woman

I’m currently reading The Sacred Woman by Queen Afua—a powerful book about women tapping into their feminine power and reconnecting with themselves.

While I haven’t read the entire book yet (I’m on Chapter 4, Gateway 0—yes, I’m taking my time! 😂), it’s already shifted my perspective. It reminded me to pause and listen:

  • Listen to myself.
  • Listen to God/Source.
  • Listen to what works for me.

This book (and life itself) taught me that healing, growth, and creativity require us to slow down, breathe, and tune in. You can’t rush the process.

3.Use What You Have

Imagine you’re making a pizza, and the recipe calls for fresh tomatoes. But you don’t have fresh tomatoes—you have canned tomatoes. Plenty of canned tomatoes.

What do you do?

  • Do you wait until you can get fresh tomatoes?
  • Or do you use what you already have and make the pizza?

The truth is, so many of us get caught up waiting for “perfect conditions” or trying to follow someone else’s recipe to the letter. We forget that we have our own ingredients—our own gifts.

For example:

  • Introverts trying to follow extrovert guides.
  • Natural storytellers copying someone else’s step-by-step process.

When you trust yourself and add your own “swag” to the recipe, it becomes your creation. You find it’s easier to stay consistent because you’re working with what aligns with you.

Rediscovering You: The Journey Back to Self

This journey through life—whether it’s setting a foundation, reading Sacred Woman, or realizing you’ve been holding onto “canned tomatoes”—is ultimately about you. It’s about tuning out external noise, honoring your unique gifts, and trusting your inner guidance.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve looked outward for validation and direction far too often. But everything I need (and everything you need) is already inside of us.

Key Takeaways

Here’s what I hope you take away from this post:

  1. Foundation setting is simple but powerful. Start small with your “Core 3” or whatever works for you.
  2. Listen to your inner guidance. Books, guides, and blueprints are great—but don’t forget to adapt them to your life.
  3. Use what you already have. Don’t wait for perfect conditions; start with what’s in front of you and make it your own.

Conclusion

At the end of the day, this life is about rediscovering yourself. It’s about showing up, trusting your journey, and honoring the gifts you already have.

Now I want to hear from you:

  • What’s one small habit or foundation you can build today?
  • Have you ever found yourself waiting for “perfect tomatoes” when you had all the ingredients already?
